Forensic audit to be carried out on all Rivers State Govt Accounts - Wike

Rivers State Governor-Elect, Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared that his administration will carry out a forensic audit of all government accounts to ensure the recovery of all resources stolen by top officials of the out-going administration in the state. This is even as he declared that all those who participated in the use of N4.5bllion to conduct illegal local government elections by the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, RSIEC, will be brought to justice and made to account.
He said RSIEC embarked on the illegal local government elections despite the court stopping the election. Speaking on Monday while receiving the interim report of the Transition Committee led by Deputy Governor Tele Ikuru, Barrister Wike said the days of impunity and massive corruption are over in Rivers State.

He said Rivers State will be a test case in the fight against corruption, noting that a comprehensive approach in fighting corrupt elements in the outgoing administration will be adopted to entrench fiscal discipline in the state.

"I am not going to be intimidated. The only way we can work together is to check the ills of the past. The right thing must be done. Those who have stolen the resources of the state must be made to account. "I have the political will to drive the process to its logical conclusion.

The massive stealing of government resources was a deliberate attempt to create problems for the incoming administration ", Wike said. The governor-elect added that all the back-dated appointments and certificates of occupancy being hurriedly issued by outgoing governor Amaechi will be set aside.

He said all the top officials of Amaechi administration who have refused to cooperate in the interest of Rivers State during the transition period will soon cooperate whether they like it or not. According to him : "Those who have closed the courts will be the same persons rushing to the courts when we open the courts".

Earlier, Chairman of the Transition Committee and Deputy Governor, Engineer Tele Ikuru recommended that the new administration should carry out forensic audit of all accounts in view of massive looting by officials of the out-going administration.

He said that Governor Rotimi Amaechi and top officials of his administration refused to cooperate with the committee for a smooth transition. The deputy governor urged the governor-elect to work towards restoring basic services in the state.

President Jonathan urges Nigerians to pray for Buhari

President Jonathan has appealed to Nigerians to pray more for the President-elect, Buhari and the incoming government to ensure they succeed and not make costly mistakes that might have adverse effect on Nigeria. He made the appeal while speaking at the Thanksgiving and Inauguration service which held yesterday in Abuja.
"I thank you for the support and I will call on you to pray for us who are leaving, because probably today is the last day I will speak to you here as the President of Nigeria. But you should even pray more for the incoming government because we are now trying to manage our private businesses while they are coming to manage the whole country.
So they require more prayers because I can make a mistake and it will affect me, but if they make a mistake, it will affect the whole nation. So I call on all of you and all religious bodies to pray for the incoming government to succeed because all what we want as a nation, both Nigerians at home and abroad, is for good government, prosperity, unity and peace. We cannot achieve that without the help of God. I am quite pleased today we are here not to celebrate disintegration of this country, but we are celebrating the unity of this country. We are here not for service for mass burial, but we are here having service to inaugurate the new incoming government. This being possible because of men and women like you who have been here praying for the country. God has designed everything” he said.

Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton may have finally moved on from Nicole Scherzinger as he's said to be enjoying a budding romance with newly single model, Gigi Hadid after they met at Cannes.

The 30 year old sports star invited the 20 year old model to the Monaco Grand Prix racing track  yesterday where he was seen tenderly placing his arms around her. Gigi's friends including Kendall Jenner were also invited.

24yr old accountant murdered by ritualists in Port Harcourt

24 year old Anita Oluchi Okore, a graduate of Banking and Finance from Abia state University (pictured above) was murdered a few weeks ago in Port Harcourt by men believed to be ritualists. According to a family member, Anita, who is based in Ebonyi, had gone to see her older sister in Port Harcourt when she unfortunately ran into these men. Anita had called her dad to tell him she was about to enter a bus that will take her from the park to her sister's house. She later called her dad, informing him that she was the only woman in the bus with three men and they were taking her somewhere other than her destination. Her father said he asked to speak with the men which he did and pleaded with them to free his daughter but all his plea fell on deaf ears as the men told him that they were not looking for a ransom and returned the phone back to his daughter. That was the last anyone heard from Anita...

Many weeks later, investigations by the Directorate of Military Intelligence (DMI), in Port Harcourt and the police, using Anita's call log, led to the arrest of the three men in a hotel where they were lavishing N1.5 million paid by their clients for the body parts of Anita. They led the investigating team to the dump site where they kept the body Anita with her vital body organs cut off.

She was buried on Thursday, May 7th, 2015, in Eziobasi, Amodu Ututu, in Arochukwu LGA of Abia State, after a funeral service held at the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Umule Parish, Aba.

FAAN staff this morning protested over the beating of their colleague by an Air Force official last week. The man, who is still in hospital, was beaten to a coma at Murtala Muhammed International Airport. FAAN staff asked the government to sack the Airforce Commandant and also asked for the Air Force officials to leave the Airport.

They had three kids, one died a few years ago. The actor quietly married his lady in front of a few family and friends today. There wedding reception will hold after Mr Ibu's mother's burial. Congrats to the couple.

'She's kind of shut me out lately. I don't want her to go away, emotionally go away" He said 
Explaining her struggles with her father's transitioning, and why she's distancing herself from him, Kylie said
'I feel like I go through these times where I hate my life. My sisters always try and make me talk about everything but I don't want to right now. People deal with things in different ways"
