Flying Eagles land Mbour for Cote d’ Ivoire

The bus ride was clocked at an hour and 25 minutes and the weather in Mbour is put at about 43 degrees
Nigeria’s Flying Eagles arrived a steaming hot Mbour in Senegal early afternoon on Friday by bus from Dakar ahead of Saturday’s final African Youth Championship Group A match against Cote d’Ivoire.

The bus ride was clocked at an hour and 25 minutes and the weather in Mbour is put at about 43 degrees. The team immediately checked into the Sparwing Palm Beach Hotel and have since settled down. They are sharing the four-star holiday resort with the Black Satellites of Ghana, who welcomed them warmly. Former Julius Berger and Iwuanyanwu Nationale (now Heartland) midfielder, Sellas Tetteh, and now coach of the Ghana U20 team, led the welcoming party.

Interestingly, both teams played two warm-up matches last month in preparation for the AYC – the first game in Accra ended 2-2, while Nigeria won the second match 2-0 in Tema. Muslim players and officials of both teams later attended the local mosque nearby to offer Friday prayers. The Flying Eagles will now train by 4.30pm local time at the match venue, Caroline Faye Stadium. The training was earlier scheduled for the famous Diambars Academy, which is also in Mbour.
